Making Modern Melbourne
Commission for The Old Treasury Building Museum, 2024-2025.
“An optimistic new nation was created at the dawn of the 20th century. Australia was self-governing, and Melbourne would be its temporary capital while Canberra was constructed.” Making Modern Melbourne examines the tumultuous century that was to come, with two world wars and a Depression. But also, a ‘long boom’, multiculturalism, rights for all citizens, increased public transport and heritage laws which would protect the historic buildings we still have today. In the exhibition highlight, compare historical photographs of Melbourne with recent images I captured in 2024 throughout the Melbourne city centre.
